The Bucket List

So my friend had this on his facebook and I felt compelled to abide. It's a take from the Jack Nicholson and Morgan Fremont movie. Don't feel like you have to do it. As Jeremy puts it, it is pretty lame. If you don't fill it out, nothing bad will happen, don't even feel the need to waste other people's time with it. But if you feel like someone will benefit somehow then copy and paste the list. Go on ... I know you can't help yourself

Quick Instructions:

Place an X by all the things you've done and remove the X from the ones you have not. I know is difficult and requires a lot of effort. If you can't figure out, then please forget about the list and consider seeking a life coach, or someone else who can ehlp you, but don't bother me with it.

Things you have done during your lifetime:
(X) Gone on a blind date
(X) Skipped school
(X) Watched someone die
(X) Been to Canada
(X) Been to Mexico
(X) Been to Florida
() Been to Hawaii
(X) Been on a plane
(X ) Been on a helicopter
(X) Been lost
(X) Gone to Washington, DC
(X) Swam in the ocean
( ) Cried yourself to sleep (I won't be doing this one, is pretty lame to feel that sorry for yourself)
(X) Played cops and robbers
(X ) Recently colored with crayons
(X) Sang Karaoke
(X) Paid for a meal with coins only
( ) Been to the top of the St. Louis Arch
(x ) Done something you told yourself you wouldn't.
(X) Made prank phone calls
( ) Been down Bourbon Street in New Orleans
(X) Laughed until some kind of beverage came out of your nose & elsewhere
(X) Caught a snowflake on your tongue
(X ) Danced in the rain
(X) Written a letter to Santa Claus

( ) Driven across the United States
( ) Been in a hot air balloon
( ) Been sky diving
( ) Gone snowmobiling
(X) Lived in more than one country
(X) Lay down outside at night and admired the stars while listening to the crickets
(X) Seen a falling star and made a wish
( ) Enjoyed the beauty of Old Faithful Geyser
(X) Seen the Statue of Liberty
(X) Gone to the top of Seattle Space Needle
(X) Been on a cruise
(X) Traveled by train
(X) Traveled by motorcycle
(X) Been horse back riding
( ) Ridden on a San Francisco CABLE CAR
(x) Been to Disney World
( ) Truly believe in the power of prayer
(X) Been in a rain forest
(x) Seen whales in the ocean
(X) Been to Niagara Falls
( ) Ridden on an elephant
(X) Swam with dolphins
( ) Been to the Olympics
( ) Walked on the Great Wall of China
( ) Saw and heard a glacier calf
(X) Been spinnaker flying
(X) Been water-skiing
( ) Been snow-skiing
( )Been to Westminster Abbey
( ) Been to the Louvre
( ) Swam in the Mediterranean
(X) Been to a Major League Baseball game
(X) Been to a National Football League game
(X) Jumped in the ocean when it was 20 degrees out

The bottom line is that life is short ... really short. The older I get the more I realize how short it is. You should experience as much as you can and don't let financials prevent you from doing it. Do of course plan for a secure financial future, you don't want to be homeless at 80.

SEO

Search engine optimization, or SEO for short, is the science behind gaming Google, Yahoo, Windows Live, and countless other search engines into having your site appear on the first ten listing of the results page for as many key terms as possible.

SEOMoz is a site dedicated to gathering news, information and tools to help up game and scam the search engines for ranking. In my effort to help you game the search engines I will provide you two useful insights:

1. Search engines are, like social networking, a popularity game. The more people like you, the more they will link to you. The more people dislike you, the more they will link to you. No it is not a typo, If someone likes you they might be inclined to write about you and maybe provide a link to your site. If people really hate you, they will provide negative writing about you, but in doing so they will still link to your site. The more incoming links to your site the better you do in the search engines regardless whether it is in good connotation or not.

2. If you have the right tools you can increase your ranking. The first step is knowing where you are so that you can change your positioning. SEOMoz recently introduced their toolbar, yes I know yet another toolbar to add to your repertoire. It is located on their site free of charge. Another tool is the Firefox plug-in from SEO Tools. SEO toolsis there to help you learn, rank, and dominate. The plug-in allows you to quickly see Google's cache date, site age, incoming links, Alexa and Compete rankings, whois data, among others in the SERP (search engine result page) pages.

The bottom line is that you have to be in the know before you can become known. Stay up to date on your industry, spread the word about your products and services, and get others to do it for you. If you take the initiative you can go a long way.

More Social Media

So I just wasted sat through a one hour webinar on tweetering and how to maximize it for business. Mostly I learn that people have a lot of time in their hands. I don't have enough time to worry about breathing let alone let people know what I'm doing, how I'm doing, or why I'm doing it.

I just learned that companies have invested an awful lot in to twitter specialist to monitor the feeds and ensure that customers are feeling the love. To me twitter is an avenue for folks to complaint. The one marketing benefit I see to the whole social media site is updating potential customers of specials, sales, and other offers which have potential for mass distribution.

The bottom line is that social networking is about two years old, I often wonder where will it be next. First came geocities, followed years later by myspace, then came digg and facebook, twitter has gained 4 million members in the last year. Those sites came about because everyone wanted their own space on the net. Twitter was developed as a mass text messenger for those who wanted to read or pretend they care. Where is the social media phenomenon heading to next? Will we see the Sims or other games involve networking next?

Women are equal to problems

Since the dawn of time women have been declared as problems. If you believe in the design explained in the bible, where a God created man and then woman, then woman sinned and caused a lifetime of damnation by eating the apple, then you can certainly understand why women are designed to be a lifetime of problems for the male specie.

I received an email from a friend today mathematically proving that women are problems.

Here goes the algebraic proof:

1. To find a woman you need time and money.

Woman = time x money

2. As we all know, Time is money.

money = time

3. With some substitution based on the two statements above, the formula is rewritten as:

Woman = money x money

Which in turn is the same as:

Woman = (money)²

4. Since day one we all being thought that money is the root of all problems

money = √problems

5. Therefore

Woman = (√problems)²

6. Lastly we solve and as you can see Woman equals problems

Woman = Problems

The bottom line is that we were always thought, since we were little boys to adulthood, that women will get you in trouble. Think about it, when you were young, way young, you found that girl next door icky. You, as you came of age, progressed to think that she was cute. You then tried everything you could to get her attention, think about it; how often were you grounded for staying out late, doing stupid things, etc... You finally got her, she was all into you, you were thought about the birds and the bees, you didn't listen to your parents, and you rushed thought things, next thing you know she was nothing, but trouble. Lucky for me my wife is nothing but a gem, no trouble at all. I can't wait to see the proof that men are the problem, after all, the nightly headaches must come from somewhere.

Google personalize page

This past week Google prove once agin that they are the master of design and usuability. Google upgraded their personalized page service to now include six themes.

These themes are composed of six different headers an user can select. Each header is designed to showcase the time of day and temperature outside once a US city and state or zip code is provided.

I found the feature to be quite unusual and distinct from anything I seen before as not only the sun follows the correct time of day, but also the headers for each of my "buckets" changes in color and shading base on time of day.

The bottom line is that Google is master of initiatives. They know how to keep their users happy and coming back. I been quite pleased with my personalize page as it gives me the one spot destination for all things i'm interested in. Google, your service Rock, but your search engine is going down the crapper so you best start getting inventive there too. This is not your fault, but that of many gamers and scammers who have mastered your algorithm.
